Sutton Hoo
(National Trust)
At this site in 1939, opposite Woodbridge Ferry Quay, the Saxon Treasure Ship was
unearthed. It was a traditional method of burial for an important leader. Local legend
had always told how a Longship lay buried there but until 1939 nobody had bothered to
excavate the site. Why not visit Sutton Hoo as part of your day out, when having a
river trip.
